End of United Way Partnership

ALL Business Agents & Presidents,

As you may have heard, United Way terminated their partnership with organized labor on June 2.  This caused the elimination of the AFL-CIO Community Services Liaison position which worked to build parternships, recruit volunteers, and most significantly to encourage union members to give to United Way as their charity of choice.  The termination of this partnership was done with no notice and no good-faith bargaining in terms of the agreement.  It requires immediate action.  I have attached a fact sheet.

We are calling a meeting of ALL Decatur area union Business Agents, Presidents and Leadership to provide you with the facts of this situation and to discuss our next steps.  Please plan to attend or send a designee, to the meeting listed here so that we may have a show of strength and solidarity as we move forward.

The meeting will last less than one hour and drinks & donuts will be provided.    For more information, contact Bill Francisco at 217-428-3013 or Amy Nixon 217-433-5126.  Thank you!
