Rick Perry Signs Pledge To Back Constitutional Amendment Against Gay Marriage

Republicans are obsessed with signing pledges and now Rick Perry is signing one. Just a couple weeks after Michele Bachmann, Mitt Romney, and Rick Santorum signed a pledge to investigate the LGBT community, Rick Perry has now signed a pledge to back a Constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. The pledge was presented to Perry by the National Organization for Marriage.
The pledge states that, if elected, Perry will send a Constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman to the states for ratification and appoint U.S. Supreme Court and federal judges who will “reject the idea our Founding Fathers inserted a right to gay marriage into our Constitution.”
This is an example of hypocrisy from Perry, as he had previously stated his belief that the rights of homosexuals to marry is a state issue. Apparently, the right wing organization has persuaded him to change his mind. It is also further evidence that Republicans want to wage war against civil rights and invade our personal lives to satisfy Christian right wing extremists.
