If you’ve ever wandered over to the Twilight-esque fan club of Sarah Palin’s that is “Conservatives for Palin” or ran into a Sarah Palin fan, then you’ve asked yourself, how old are these people and just how ignorant are they? The answer is that though they sound and act like teenage girls, they are actually just uneducated and poor. And while the Palin fans will say this is just more hatred, it’s actually proven in the latest Gallup poll of all things.
Gallup reports:
Republican college degree holders are more likely than those without a degree to support Mitt Romney for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, 21% vs. 13%. Similarly, Romney’s support climbs from 9% of Republicans earning less than $24,000 annually to 21% of those earning $90,000 or more. The reverse is true for Sarah Palin, who is favored by nearly twice as many Republicans without a college degree as those with one, 16% vs. 9%, and her support decreases by income from 22% among the lowest income group to 7% among the higher. There is, of course, nothing wrong with being uneducated and poor, unless you are supporting someone who stands for nothing except her own ability to grift off of you, and then it’s just sad. However, right when your pity kicks into high gear for the easily conned as you read about them feeding their family Spam for a month so they can donate to Sarah Palin, who has not even announced a run for the Presidency and who spends her time flying around in a private jet demanding bendy straws and ducking the media out of fear, the Palin cult will do something like threaten another person with violence or try to get someone fired who dared to criticize Sarah Palin. This brings home the importance of an education, because whether it comes from your parents, school, or being an astute observer of life, a well-received education encourages the ability to think critically, to question authority, and to see logical flaws in arguments. If you are a Sarah Palin fan, you inherently do not possess any of those skills or you pay so little attention to real politics that you don’t realize Palin quit her job as governor and that she lied to you about having to pay all of those legal bills. In either case, you can hardly blame the rest of us for our resentment at your impact on elections. We suspect you are the same bunch who still support George W Bush.
I never thought I’d see the day when a politicians fans so closely resembled a junior high fan club, nor did I think I’d see the day when a junior high fan club would turn dark and ugly as theSarah Palin fans have. From state senators to bloggers, no one escapes the wrath of the Palin cult. Their leader points the sign and they follow with pitchforks raised.
The next time you are debating a Palin fan who is gloating about how successful Sarah is and accusing you of being jealous of her financial success (apparently morals and ethics mean nothing to this set), be mindful of the easily led. Keep an eye on them, for they are a spark of riotous treason waiting to happen, but have compassion if you can. They know not what they do.
