Go to Sanders.Senate.Gov and sign the letter. If you want to have Social Security and Medicare sign the letter

Dear Mr. President,
This is a pivotal moment in the history of our country. Decisions are being made about the national budget that will impact the lives of virtually every American for decades to come. As we address the issue of deficit reduction we must not ignore the painful economic reality of today - which is that the wealthiest people in our country and the largest corporations are doing phenomenally well while the middle class is collapsing and poverty is increasing.  In fact, the United States today has, by far, the most unequal distribution of wealth and income of any major country on earth.

Everyone understands that over the long-term we have got to reduce the deficit - a deficit that was caused mainly by Wall Street greed, tax breaks for the rich, two wars, and a prescription drug program written by the drug and insurance companies. It is absolutely imperative, however, that as we go forward with deficit reduction we completely reject the Republican approach that demands savage cuts in desperately-needed programs for working families, the elderly, the sick, our children and the poor, while not asking the wealthiest among us to contribute one penny.

Mr. President, please listen to the overwhelming majority of the American people who believe that deficit reduction must be about shared sacrifice. The wealthiest Americans and the most profitable corporations in this country must pay their fair share.  At least 50 percent of any deficit reduction package must come from revenue raised by ending tax breaks for the wealthy and eliminating tax loopholes that benefit large, profitable corporations and Wall Street financial institutions.  A sensible deficit reduction package must also include significant cuts to unnecessary and wasteful Pentagon spending.

Please do not yield to outrageous Republican demands that would greatly increase suffering for the weakest and most vulnerable members of our society.  Now is the time to stand with the tens of millions of Americans who are struggling to survive economically, not with the millionaires and billionaires who have never had it so good.

Sen. Bernie Sanders;
and Co-signers

  1. I wonder why anyone should have to sign this petition. I believe it was a given that it would not come to this with OUR PRESIDENT in office. Most of us believe Mr. President it is time you put your foot down and demand a semblance of sense within our recalcitrant leadership. Ma'salaam [Arabic for with peace]. Noor.

  2. Please continue your fight! I do all I can through social-media.The President needs to get tough and raise his voice more to his opponents as well as anoucing what the Democratic Party stands for.

  3. It is time for President Obama to strongly represent and fight for the majority of us Americans. To save our country from it's final collaps. Tax the rich higher, leave Medicare and Social Security alone, better health care for all Americans and a constitutional ammendment stating that corporations are not people. Get and stay tough Mr.President like you want our brave young men who fight for our country have to do. That is the only reason that you were elected!

  4. Waive the student loan debt, education makes americans competitive in a global economy.

  5. Dear Mr. President
    We elected and re-elected you to help us and keep your word to protect us. You will never be able to get the GOP to agree with you on anything. We picked you to stand up for us. So forget about a grand bargin especially if you have to sacrifice our Social Security, Medicare, and Medicade. The sequestor has already started affecting many families. All they are concerned with is not being able to have tours.(Really). We plead that you will get back to focusing on jobs,immagration, gun violence, and your other agenda. The GOP is only trying to keep you distracted so that you won't have the time to focus on what we expect you to focus on. They have nothing nice for you or us. So stand tall and fight for those who depend are depending on and trusting in you. God bless you and stick to your guns.

  6. Dear Mr. President
    You are going to sell us up the creek if you go hat in hand to the Republicans offering to gut Social Security, Medicare and Medicade. And offering the chain cpi. That is ludicrous!

  7. Dear Mr. President, you have to hold yourself in high regard against the redicules ideas of the republicans. Infrastrctor has to be delt with hightly as the roads and highways are crumbling before our very lives. The rich republicans seem to be running this country, and it makes me sick. Isin't there something you can do? Also the pipeline, please don't let them do that, you and I and a million other of us voters know what that will do to our country! I'm sickened by the billionar republicans that have stopped you at every turn, when you could have done SO much more as getting more job for people, etc. Climate change will only serve the republicans. Get more bold against these rich republicans like the Koch brothers!! PLEASE don't allow them to run this country!!!
