RootsAction is less than a year old and already there are nearly 100,000 of us.

As a cofounder, it’s been a thrill to watch RootsAction grow from an idea into a real force for change.

We set out to create an online group that would not compromise to please any Party or politician – and thanks to you, we’ve already generated more activism than groups several times our size.

In our first year, we’ve worked hard to put taxing Wall Street and cutting the military on the agenda. We successfully pushed to eliminate a proposed radical expansion of presidential war powers in this year's Defense Authorization Act.

RootsAction was backing plans for the Occupy movement before it even began; we’ve been part of occupations from New York to Washington to Oakland.
