Tell Michigan Governor to Veto Anti-Choice Bills
Politicians in Michigan are out of control! While all eyes were focused on the fight over collective bargaining, the Michigan legislature decided that attacking choice was their next big agenda item.
In its lame-duck session, the state legislature moved a series of anti-choice bills to attack women’s reproductive health.
Stand up for the women in Michigan – don’t let these anti-choice politicians make it harder to get abortion care. Urge the governor to veto any anti-choice bill that passes the legislature.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just sit back and enjoy last month’s pro-choice electoral victories? Unfortunately, anti-choice groups are not relenting in attacking our rights, and they are building momentum in states across the country.
Ignoring the strength of these extreme groups would be dangerous. To help us fight back, a generous donor has offered to match all year-end gifts up to $100,000. Give to NARAL Pro-Choice America today and your gift to protect women’s health will be DOUBLED.

HALL OF FAME AND HALL OF SHAME
In 2012, anti-choice candidates used women’s access to abortion and birth control as political footballs. We asked you who earned the title of winner of Hall of Fame and Hall of Shame for the year. So, without further ado, pro-choice champion President Barack Obama wins the honor of Hall of Fame. And hands down, Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) beat out all the rest for Hall of Shame 2012.
CHOICE IN THE NEWS
Nancy Keenan gets the word out on TV about anti-choice legislative attacks in Michigan
Support grows for rape survivors in the military
Gov. Perry in Texas says he wants to ban abortion
Note from Nancy
Dear Stuart,
I wish I had a crystal ball, because anything can happen in 2013.
This year, voters rejected the divisive attacks on women’s health. They said “no” to Mitt Romney and re-elected pro-choice President Obama for four more years. And they welcomed 43 new pro-choice faces to Congress.
Apparently, some politicians didn’t get the memo. Take Michigan – politicians there are trying to make it illegal for women to get a health plan that covers abortion.
In the New Year, will politicians finally listen to voters and knock off the anti-choice attacks? Or will they follow in the footsteps of Michigan?
We have so much work to do to make sure that women – not politicians – have the final say over their personal health-care choices.
Thanks for all that you do to keep these private decisions private.
My best,
Nancy Keenan
