Dear Stuart,

Protests by angry workers at two food processing facilities in Thailand recently drew attention to their horrific treatment. Both facilities, Phattahana Seafood and Vita Food Factory, are shrimp and pineapple suppliers to Walmart stores across the US.
Workers and the facilities receive wages so low that they can't pay for basic necessities. This forces them into debt bondage - they owe the factory more for room and board than they can possibly earn. There are reports of human trafficking and child labor. Moreover, many of the workers are immigrants who can no longer legally return home to flee these horrific conditions, because their passports were confiscated. The Bangkok Post's editorial staff described this treatment as "the equivalent of actual slavery".
These egregious violations must not stand. Tell Walmart that as the largest grocer in the world and the largest importer of shrimp in the US, they have responsibility to call for an end to these abuses.
Recent reports of Walmart's bribery and cover up scandal not only show that this incident is one more in a series of poor ethical decisions, but also that Walmart needs to be monitored externally.
Sign the petition to Walmart's vice President of Ethical Sourcing to demand that these factory owners end human trafficking immediately and allow independent monitors to audit all of their factories.
