One Million Moms for Gun Control’s New York City chapters in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens will rally at the steps of City Hall in New York City on Mon., Jan. 21, 2013. The goal of the rally, which will take place on Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, is to reinforce a message of nonviolence and a safer world for our children. Attendees will meet at 9:15 a.m. in Cadman Plaza Park in Brooklyn (corner of Middagh and Cadman Plaza West), and the event will be followed by a rally at City Hall at 10:30AM.
One Million Moms for Gun Control also announced that it will co-sponsor the March on Washington for Gun Control in Washington, DC, on Sat., Jan 26. The goal of the march is to demand immediate action on common-sense gun legislation. More information on march logistics is available from the March on Washington for Gun Control at: http://www.guncontrolmarch.com.
“These events are just one step forward in One Million Moms for Gun Control’s unstoppable efforts to demand common-sense gun laws in America,” said Shannon Watts, founder of One Million Moms for Gun Control.

For moms who are unable to attend the events in New York City and the Beltway, One Million Moms for Gun Control chapters are planning local rallies and marches on Sat., Jan. 26. For example, the greater Boston-area One Million Moms for Gun Control chapter is planning a march at the State House.
In addition, One Million Moms for Gun Control will launch a national social media campaign called “How do you wear your heart?” on Sat., Jan. 19, to help moms across the country creatively express their collective desire for new and stronger gun control laws. Members will be provided with templates for a signature heart, which they can pin over their heart and wear publicly in support of One Million Moms for Gun Control. Moms will be asked to take pictures of themselves wearing their pin and email them to photos@1mm4gc.org, or Tweet and Instagram the photos using the hashtags #1MM4GC #howdoyouwearyourheart #momsdemandaction.
One Million Moms for Gun Control was formed within 24 hours of the Connecticut elementary school shooting in Sandy Hook and is dedicated to harnessing the power of social media and the motivation of outraged mothers. 1. Shannon Watts: Thank you for what you are doing for gun violence and gun terrorism in the U.S. I have signed your petition. As one of our congressmen said, 3000 people died at 911 and we went to war; 30,000 people die every year by guns in this country and we do little.
    Sincerely, SB from Wisconsin.

  2. Per CNN , in a story from 13 May 2001,
"Last year's march drew 750,000 mothers and others to the mall. Since then, the organization has formed 235 chapters across 46 states.

Million Mom March founder Donna Dees-Thomases said the group made great strides during the past year. "
